In modern interpretations of Celtic knotwork, the dara knot, whose name is derived from the Gaelic word for “oak tree” has come to represent strength and courage. It is important to bear in mind that many such “Celtic knot meanings” are entirely modern derivations; most of what we know about their beliefs comes from the writings of other cultures, and even those make little mention of any meaning to their ornamentation.
